Research Scientist, Social Simulation and Agents, Deep Mind

We are looking for a Research Scientist to develop cutting-edge social simulation techniques powered by large language models. This role focuses on building computational frameworks of human simulations that are (1) accurate and predictive of real-world behavior, judgements, and opinions, (2) representative of societal diversity, and (3) scalable: simulating individuals to large groups and societies.

Key responsibilities include formulating metrics and validation methods, developing frameworks for multimodal environments, collaborating with product teams to drive research, and publishing high-impact research in top AI and social science venues. You will join an interdisciplinary team of domain experts, machine learning researchers, social scientists, and engineers to conduct cutting-edge research and advance the next generation of computational frameworks that simulate human social behavior at scale to advance societal health.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive projects by defining key research questions.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate experiments to provide clear answers.
  • Publish research findings in top academic conferences and journals, staying up to date with the latest advancements in the field.
  • Collaborate with internal and external scientific domain experts.
  • Contribute to real-world impact by landing research in Google products and services.
