the Role
Mollie Stone’s Markets is looking for a Full‑time Assistant Bakery Manager at our Grand Central location (Pacific Heights). This person will partner with the Manager in all duties within the Bakery Department to achieve the department’s sales and profit goals, including production, merchandising, staff development and customer service.
Essential Functions- Set and achieve the highest standards
- In the absence of the Bakery Manager, supervise, schedule, and assign duties to Team Members
- Provide customers with exceptional service
- Assist in interviewing, training, development and counseling of all Team Members to build a high‑performing team and minimize turnover
- Establish and maintain a positive work environment that encourages high morale
- Manage inventory and pricing to hit margin and labor targets
- Follow established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- Operate and sanitize all equipment safely and properly
- Previous experience in bakery management (1‑2 years minimum)
- Analytical ability and math proficiency for margin calculations, profitability monitoring, and inventory management
- Passion for scratch baking
- Comprehensive bakery product knowledge
- Clear, effective communication skills
- Strong teamwork ability
- Enjoys mentoring others
- Excellent organizational skills
- Available for a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays
- Local candidates only
- Must regularly lift at least 50 lbs
- Standing: up to 8 hours/day
- Walking: up to 8 hours/day
- Reaching: up to 4 hours/day
