Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA).

The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.

The Parks Conservancy engages at the intersection of National Parks, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience. Collaborating with partners, our staff are dedicated to enhancing public awareness and providing volunteer and educational opportunities in the parks. The Interpretive Centers and Sales Branch is responsible for developing and operating Interpretive Centers throughout the GGNRA (Golden Gate National Parks), providing visitor information, orientation, and other direct services. Parks Conservancy Interpretive Centers sell educational, functional, and proprietary park merchandise amidst changing park exhibits. The Branch develops park-focused books, maps, interpretive, and branded products for both Interpretive Centers and for the Conservancy wholesale and online sales programs.

In addition, the Branch manages warehouses, distributes merchandise, and operates the Fee Collection program at Muir Woods. Interpretive Centers include the Alcatraz Park Stores, Muir Woods Visitor Center, Lands End Lookout, Warming Hut, Fort Point Park Store, Presidio Visitor Center, and Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center.

This is a non-exempt, non-benefitted, part-time position at 16 hours/week. The work location is the Warming Hut Park Store. Working both weekend days and holidays will be expected.

The Sales Associate I provides outstanding visitor service and orientation to visitors from around the world; sells interpretive merchandise, apparel, books, souvenirs, and other retail items unique to each location, restocks items sold and maintains visual merchandising standards, assists with inventory management, operates the POS system, and handles cash and other forms of payment efficiently and accurately. These duties as well as others will be carried out under the direction of Managers, Team Leads, and Sales Associate II’s.

The Sales Associate I will always be professional, friendly, and helpful while engaging with visitors and connecting them to our parks. The Sales Associate I will become familiar with the Golden Gate National Parks and the programs, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities of the National Park Service, Presidio Trust, and Parks Conservancy.

Sales Associates will help visitors to navigate our Parks as part of visits to other popular San Francisco and the Bay Area attractions, deepening the visitor experience and encouraging them to connect to the Parks whenever they visit San Francisco, broadening the community of those who value, enjoy, and protect our Parks for future generations and working towards our vision of Parks For All Forever.

Towards this end, Sales Associates will explain the value and benefits of a Parks Conservancy membership and ask for donations at the Point of Sale as part of our "round-up" program.

Reports To: Retail Manager and Retail Assistant Manager

• Welcome, engage, and deliver the highest standard of service to all visitors
• Sell interpretive, educational, and other merchandise to help the Conservancy meet its revenue goals – ring up sales on the POS system and ask for round-up donations
• Restock merchandise and maintain store cleanliness, neatness, and visual merchandising standards
• Answer all visitor questions appropriately with accuracy, courtesy, and respect
