The Territory Account Manager is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of select academic and biopharma accounts, focusing on building and maintaining relationships and generating new business opportunities. To deliver on revenue expectations, you will build deep partnerships with key stakeholders at named accounts and nurture large opportunities through a pipeline. You will proactively make outbound calls, schedule customer visits in your assigned territory, and nurture leads from marketing through to opportunities.
This position reports to the Sales Director and is part of the Americas Commercial team. It will be working remotely to cover accounts in the San Francisco and Seattle Regions.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize technical expertise and strategic thinking to identify and drive revenue growth within named focus accounts by developing new opportunities across our full range of products and services.
- Develop and execute account plans that build effective alliances and maximize share of wallet across Abcam’s portfolio.
- Provide market and competitor feedback to the organization regarding customer trends, market development, and competitive activities observed within your territory.
- Provide regular sales forecasts to management regarding both financial and proactive activity output conducted in alignment with individual objectives and revenue goals for your territory.
- Adopt the Sales Cloud CRM system and use its functionality to manage leads, opportunities, and provide insights into accounts.
- Bachelor’s degree in life science or related discipline and field sales account management experience in life sciences, ideally in the region.
- Demonstrable ability to speak to antibody-based applications, proteomics, reagents, and similar protein‑based solutions and products with customers and translate into business opportunities.
- Proven ability to build and manage relationships with scientific end‑users and decision‑makers in biopharma and academic markets.
- Experience in account management or technical support within life sciences with experience selling solutions and services across complex research workflows.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts, paired with strong organizational and project management abilities and a proactive, customer‑focused approach to problem‑solving.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel as required (50%–75%) within the region and a valid driver’s license.
- Life Sciences or Biotechnology related PhD, MS is desirable.
- Experience and knowledge of sales tools and various CRMs, such as Salesforce.
The base salary range for this role is $95,000–$125,000. This is the range we in good faith believe is the possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus and incentive pay. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
