OpportunityThe Sales Executive Team is dedicated to navigating and managing a high‑performing sales culture in‑person or virtually. As Sales Director, you will lead a team of sales professionals within your agency assignments or territories, develop and execute sales strategies aligned with business objectives, build relationships with customers and distribution partners, and drive profitable growth.
Responsibilities- Select, train and manage a team of Sales Executives to develop long‑term and short‑term plans aligned with business objectives and achieve sales targets.
- Coordinate sales planning and quarterly performance reviews.
- Create an environment that fosters high performance, continuous learning, and proactive initiative.
- Oversee and influence a team responsible for implementing advanced sales strategies to expand and manage territory.
- Own assigned territory, develop business strategy, create annual plans and manage territorial performance.
- Conduct high‑level agency diagnostics, facilitate strategic appointments and nurture long‑term relationships.
- Proactively manage measures of point‑of‑sale success, sales plan effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure prospecting, onboarding and establishment of performance goals for new agencies, while providing training and support.
- Oversee in‑person office visits to strengthen key partnerships.
- Influence key agency partners through exceptional communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
- Collaborate with internal teams—Product, Underwriting and Operations—to align sales strategies with broader business objectives.
- Build partnerships with other business groups to identify and initiate multiple product solutions at the account level.
- Leverage expertise in competitor products and market trends to provide competitive intelligence and distribution channel insights.
- Represent the region or territory at agency council meetings and support corporate agency management in handling strategic distribution relationships.
- Utilize a thorough knowledge of Travelers' systems, platforms and data analytics to guide strategic sales decisions and measure performance.
- Analyze market, distribution channel and product offerings, identify gaps and opportunities, and develop plans to increase market share and drive profitable growth.
- Ensure the team leverages AI technologies to optimize processes, enhance decision‑making and drive innovation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, business or a related field.
- Eight or more years of insurance marketing and sales or related experience managing a high‑value book of business, executing sales strategies and utilizing advanced data analytics.
- Four or more years of leadership and management experience with other employees.
- Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or willingness to pursue the certification.
- Expert knowledge of Travelers products and the general property & casualty marketplace.
- Exceptional influencing, communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders internally and externally.
- Advanced skills in agency appointment.
- Ability to set clear direction, define goals and energize a team to meet objectives.
- Expert organizational skills for managing complex tasks and priorities.
- Goal‑oriented mindset focused on achieving sales targets and business objectives.
- Five years of professional sales experience within the insurance industry.
- Two or more years of leadership and management experience with other employees.
- Must live in the territory you manage and have the ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
