Schedule:
Full Time, 35 hours/week, at least three days working onsite, occasional evenings and weekends
The Rental Events Sales Manager is the qualifying point of contact for rental event inquiries and looks to leverage opportunities to drive strong revenue and strategic sales for the external facility rental program. Working under the supervision of the Associate Director of Rental Events and in partnership with the Rental Events Operations Manager, the position is responsible for the promotion, sales, reporting and contracting of SFMOMA's event space for private events.
Responsible for one direct report. The Rental Events Sales Manager also leads the department in developing and diversifying SFMOMA's segmentation markets.
- Achieves department sales goals, consistently hitting and exceeding the target sales goal.
- Develops strong ties with key customers, repeat clients, vendors, and accounts, proactively understanding trends and responding to challenges and issues in the market.
- Manages and owns the contracting process from preparation to negotiation and final signatures. Works with Associate Director in negotiation of legal language, discounts, and sales incentives.
- Understand and manage budget revenue goals and demonstrate museum operational knowledge in sales process.
- Actively prospects and develops new business, including outside sales calls, attending local trade shows, network, and industry events, using great customer service as a focus.
- Directs, supervises, and sets expectations of the coordinator position. Responsible for the training, development, and support of that role.
- Meets with clients, vendors and decision makers for site tours and manages sales process from initial contact through final booked event.
- Drives revenue and creatively develops all market segments, Corporate, Social and Wedding.
- Develops, maintains, and evolves the ongoing sales pipeline, revenue, and financial tracker. Responsible for communicating the weekly Sales Report.
- Ensures timely client follow up, within 48 hours, before and after sales calls, event inquiries, sales leads.
- Articulates and demonstrates working knowledge of all public areas of the Museum.
- Performs duties as assigned, supporting the Enterprise Events team as a whole.
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years in hospitality or event sales experience. Experience must include prospecting, sales calls, and proven negotiation to closing skills. Managing or supervising a direct report is preferred.
- Excellent organization and communication skills with great attention to details.
- Self-motivated and proactive, able to act independently.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as appropriate for the business.
- Proficient in Customer Relationship Management database. (Artifax, Tessitura, Asana)
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Office products. (Word, Excel, Teams, Powerpoint)
- Ability to work under deadlines, time constraints; multi-task without compromising quality or attitude
- Excellent phone, video and email demeanor and can easily create rapport at all levels
- General event operations knowledge: timelines, staffing, floor plans, loading in and out, hand held radios, etc
- Willingness to work flexible hours, supporting the Events team as needed.
- Must be able to lift 30lbs.
$71,357 - $82,750 a year

San Francisco, 151 3rd Street.
