Summary

Performs technical duties in support of the City Water Quality Program. Works under limited supervision.

Responsible for watershed sampling operations; prepares watershed sampling plans; schedules watershed sampling events; conducts watershed sampling such as dry weather, wet weather, ambient, biological, and chemical water sampling to meet the City NPDES permit and TMDL implementation plans requirement; analyzes watershed monitoring data for trends and maintains proper sampling records; conducts other water quality activities such as illicit discharge identification and enforcing City Stormwater Ordinance;

uses a City owned vehicle; conducts investigations and inspections relative to stormwater and watershed management; performs community outreach and education, which includes planning and attending community meetings to raise awareness of water quality and stormwater issues; and performs other duties as assigned.

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to an associate's degree with coursework in chemistry, biology and one year water quality sampling experience. Stormwater inspection and enforcement experience, utilizing QA/QC skills, is preferred. Experience using ArcGIS, MS Excel, MS Access is desirable.

Valid Class D driver's License.
Must be able to obtain Erosion and Sediment Control and Haz Mat Certifications.
Must be able to obtain a Special Police Commission.

Incumbents may be subjected to odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and infectious diseases.
