Under the supervision of a Clinical Research Supervisor or Principal Investigator, the incumbent will perform entry-level duties related to the support and coordination of clinical studies, and may receive training to advance to higher level work.
Key Responsibilities- Support patient management: schedule visits, obtain medical‑insurance authorizations, record protocol‑specific treatments, report adverse events, and ship specimens.
- Assist with patient registration: verify eligibility criteria, schedule screening tests, randomize patients, and work with investigators to identify study patients.
- Data management: abstract clinical data from medical records, enter data into case‑report forms and databases, submit required data on time, resolve data queries, and ensure data quality.
- Miscellaneous duties: prepare for audits and monitoring visits, monitor study supply inventory, maintain study binders, and perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Support research activities: help prepare protocols, design forms, aid recruitment, build Power Points, write abstracts, and coordinate meeting travel and budgets.
- High‑school graduation with sufficient experience and demonstrated skills, or equivalent experience/training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Windows.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑based environment, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with patients, co‑workers, and physicians.
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- Experience working with patients or study subjects.
- Ability to abstract data from medical records into collection forms or directly into databases.
- Experience with data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.
- Training or experience conducting clinical research trials in an academic research environment.
- Familiarity with UCSF processes, and knowledge of CHR/IRB policy and procedure.
- Attention to detail.
