We are seeking a reliable and professional Unarmed Security Officer to provide high-quality security patrols, access control, incident response, and customer service at our client site(s). The ideal candidate will maintain a safe environment for personnel, visitors, and property while complying with state licensing and training requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct routine and random patrols (foot, vehicle, or static) of assigned premises, interior and exterior, to detect signs of intrusion, vandalism, unauthorized persons, safety hazards, or other irregularities.
Monitor access points (entrances/exits), verify identification if required, control egress, enforce site policies and client rules.
Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, or suspicious activity; alert law enforcement or emergency services as needed; coordinate with onsite management.
Write and maintain comprehensive incident, activity, and daily shift reports (including any property damage, equipment failures, security violations, unauthorized access, unusual occurrences).
Communicate professionally with employees, visitors, vendors, and the public; act as a visible deterrent and friendly security presence.
Maintain clear and open radio/telephone communication; participate in shift hand‑offs, briefings, and client meetings as required.
Follow all site‑specific instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), company policies, and state regulatory requirements (for example, carry valid guard card, maintain required training).
Maintain professional appearance, uniform, and demeanor at all times.
Required Qualifications & Licensing (California)Valid California Guard Card issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) (or able to obtain prior to or upon hire). For unarmed security, the Guard Card is required.
Completion of the required security guard training (e.g., initial 40‑hour BSIS course plus required modules) and any annual refresher training as mandated.
Must be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) preferred.
Must successfully complete a background check and Live Scan fingerprinting (as required by BSIS and employer).
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Good physical and mental condition to perform required duties (patrolling, walking, standing, climbing stairs, sometimes lifting).
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (able to read and write reports).
Reliable transportation to and from assigned site (depending on location) may be required.
Preferred/Additional QualificationsPrevious experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related field.
CPR / First Aid certification. (While not always legally required for unarmed roles, many client sites prefer it.)
Experience with access control systems, CCTV monitoring, client service orientation, emergency response protocols.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shift schedules as needed.
Work Conditions &Physical Requirements
The role may require frequent walking, standing for long periods, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
Must be able to remain alert, vigilant, and responsive during the entire shift.
Work may occur indoors, outdoors, in varying weather conditions, in parking structures, office buildings, retail environments, or other client sites.
Uniform and company‑issued equipment (radio, flashlight, badge, etc.) must be worn and maintained to company standards.
Compensation & BenefitsHourly rate: $21 (depending on experience, site, shift).
Training provided/paid by company for site orientation.
