Compensation

Step 1:
Minimum $47.89/hour – Step 5:
Maximum $57.46/hour (BPOA). External candidates start at Step
1. Effective July 1, 2026, the salary will be:

Work Schedule

Days off as assigned. Must be willing to do shift work with varied days off and weekends.

Position

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and security-focused Revenue Protection Guard to join our team. This important role is responsible for safeguarding District cash, personnel, and assets during the collection, handling, and transportation of revenue. Revenue Protection Guards focus specifically on guarding cash and managing security during revenue collection activities. This role requires a high level of responsibility, as guards are authorized to make situational decisions regarding the protection of cash and crew safety.

  • Crisis Management and Decision-Making – Strong decision-making skills in high-pressure situations. The ability to act swiftly and effectively in emergencies, making critical decisions to safeguard lives, cash, and property.
  • Conflict Resolution and De‑escalation Skills – Ability to interact with patrons and the general public in a firm, professional manner, including during confrontations or disputes. Demonstrates tact, patience, and clear communication to defuse tense situations, while maintaining authority and ensuring compliance.
  • Communication and Reporting – Excellent communication skills for maintaining constant contact with District personnel, dispatchers, and law enforcement. The ability to prepare clear, accurate, and detailed written reports on security activities, incidents, and operations.
  • Firearm Proficiency and Defensive Tactics – Proficiency in the safe and effective use of firearms, batons, and other protective equipment. Applies approved defensive tactics to protect oneself and others, using the minimum force necessary to ensure safety and maintain control during high-risk or threatening situations.
Responsibilities
  • Guards and protects District cash and assists Treasury personnel during transport, handling, collection and stocking of cash.
  • Carrying and utilizing firearms and batons; wearing protective gear and operating communication equipment.
  • Operating an armored vehicle, truck tractor with semi-trailer and a passenger van to assigned stations to receive and transport cash collection and change supply.
  • Protecting cash handling operation and securing District revenues from internal and external threats.
  • Maintaining surveillance of station activities during cash collection, handling and loading; driving crew vans and protecting crews.
  • Controlling access to the Cash Handling Building; performing surveillance in person, by video camera, and by videotape of cash handling activities, cash vault, and building security.
  • In emergencies, assuming control of the situation to ensure the safety of lives, cash and property.
  • Maintaining contact by radio and telephone with District police dispatcher to inform of emergencies, suspicious activities, routes, location of work, and security of cash and facilities.
