Security Guard - Campus

Public Safety Ambassadors – Responsibilities

Protect and guard University property; maintain order among the public and UCSF community; monitor and control entry to restricted areas; inspect areas to prevent fires, accidents, and other hazards; direct visitors and answer questions concerning building and/or exhibit layouts; and perform other related duties as required.

Hourly range: $24.97 – $29.87. Salary placement will be based on experience and internal equity. Sign‑on bonus: $500 for candidates not employed with a UC in the last 12 months. For more information on compensation and benefits, visit (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid California Driver's License.
• Excellent customer service and effective problem‑solving skills; ability to fluently speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Demonstrated ability to work calmly under stress in emergencies and to make sound judgments.
• Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability.
• Physical requirements:
  
  bending, squatting, climbing stairs; pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting for extended periods; standing and walking for extended periods; carrying and lifting 21‑30 pounds; gripping and grasping; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; running short distances.
• General PC knowledge and proficiency using MS Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Current CPR certification (within 6 months of hire).
• Basic First Aid certification (within 6 months of hire).
• CPI de‑escalation training (within 6 months of hire).
• AED training (within 6 months of hire).
• Clery training (within 6 months of hire).
• Ability to work variable hours and days of the week, onsite in San Francisco.

• One or more years of experience in the security field.
• Military experience.
• Valid California Guard Card.
