Overview
Aviation Security Analyst (9212) – SFO. Full-time Civil Service position.
Responsibilities- Inspect and evaluate Airport and tenant facilities, access controls, barriers, fences, and lighting for compliance with Airport and Transportation Security Regulations; suspend operations when unsecured conditions are discovered and reopen when corrected.
- Ensure compliance with and enforce procedures for the Airport Access Control System to prevent unauthorized and/or unescorted access to the Sterile Secured and Air Operations Area (AOA); verify proper Airport identification media.
- Work within the Security Operations Center (SOC) performing CCTV and access control system monitoring and surveillance; ensure compliance with TSA and Airport Regulations.
- Respond to and investigate security breaches and violations; conduct interviews; prepare and file reports; conduct follow-up inspections and assess completed modifications.
- Issue admonishments for safety and security violations and maintain the admonishment database.
- Conduct routine and special-emphasis security checks of terminal and gate areas, cargo facilities, airport tenant leasehold, and perimeter fencing; respond to and investigate security calls and alarms.
- Oversee security operations for construction projects, special events, and other operations to ensure compliance with the Airport Security Program (ASP); provide security materials and briefings as needed.
- Monitor procedures and operations of air carriers and tenants with security responsibilities over Exclusive Areas as established by agreement with the Airport.
- Provide regulatory information and guidance to Airport staff and aviation and non-aviation tenants.
- Respond and assist in security emergencies and crises such as explosive device threats, air piracy, and terrorism.
- Prepare informational and operational reports.
- Provide administrative or management support to the Airport Security Coordinator; may be assigned temporarily to Operations Supervisor duties; evaluate and recommend new security systems and technology.
- Develop training programs and standard operating procedures; may deliver training to airline tenants, service companies, or other users.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination) AND
- Experience: Two (2) years of safety and/or security operations experience at an airport, airbase, airline, military base, or an emergency communications dispatch center, with at least six (6) months of recent aviation security experience.
- Six months of recent aviation security experience must include analyzing aviation security-related data and developing recommendations in Aviation Security, including preparing letters, memoranda, and reports.
Licenses and Substitutions:
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver license before employment.
- Substitution:
- Associate’s degree in Aviation Management or related field may substitute for one year of required experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or related field may substitute for two years of required experience.
- Completion of a six-month program equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco’s Airfield or Aviation Security Training Program may substitute for six months of recent aviation security experience.
One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours. Overtime hours are not included in this calculation. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.
Desirable Qualifications- Working knowledge of CFR Part 1542
- Working knowledge of CCTV, video analytics, security systems, and surveillance skills
- Ability to work extended periods with CCTV and computer systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm in high-stress environments
- Aviation security experience within the last three years analyzing aviation security-related data and developing recommendations
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver license prior to employment.
