Under general supervision, the Aviation Security Analyst performs routine and special‑emphasis security checks of terminal and gate boarding areas, cargo facilities, airport tenant leasehold, and perimeter fencing. The position is instrumental in ensuring compliance with Airport and Transportation Security Regulations, responding to and investigating security incidents, issuing admonishments, performing CCTV and access control monitoring within the Security Operations Center (SOC), and enforcing proper procedures.
Responsibilities- Inspect and evaluate airport and tenant facilities, access controls, barriers, fences and lighting for compliance with regulations; suspend operations when unsecured conditions are found and reopen when rectified.
- Ensure compliance with the Airport’s Access Control System and verify proper identification media.
- Operate within the SOC performing CCTV and access control monitoring, ensuring adherence to TSA and Airport regulations.
- Respond to, investigate and report security breaches and violations; conduct interviews and recommend corrective action.
- Issue admonishments for safety and security violations; maintain the admonishment database.
- Conduct routine and special-security checks of terminal, gate boarding areas, cargo facilities, tenant leasehold and perimeter fencing; respond to access control alarms.
- Oversee security operations for construction projects, special events and other special security operations, ensuring compliance with the Airport Security Program (ASP).
- Monitor procedures and operations of air carriers and tenants with security responsibilities over exclusive areas.
- Provide regulatory information and guidance to airport staff and tenants.
- Respond to all security emergencies and crises such as explosive device threats, air piracy and terrorism.
- Prepare informational and operational reports.
- Assist the Airport Security Coordinator with administrative or management duties; may temporarily assume Operations Supervisor responsibilities.
- Develop training programs and SOPs; may present to groups and provide operations-related training.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination)
Experience: Two (2) years of safety and/or security operations experience at an airport, airbase, airline, military base or an emergency communications dispatch center, with at least six (6) months of recent aviation security experience.
License and Certification: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver license prior to employment.
Substitution- Associate’s degree with major in Aviation Management or related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Aviation Management or related field may substitute for the two (2) years of required experience.
- Completion of a six (6) month program equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco’s Airfield or Aviation Security Training Program may substitute for the required six (6) months of recent aviation security experience.
- Working knowledge of CFR Part 1542.
- Working knowledge of CCTV, video analytics, security systems and surveillance.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time with CCTV and computer systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm in high‑stress environments.
- Aviation security experience within the last three (3) years analyzing aviation security‑related data and developing recommendations.
