Location:

Northern California

Job Type: Full-time / Contract

Role Overview

As a Lead Field Construction Technician, you will oversee ground-to-cabinet construction activities including hybrid cable rerouting, conduit installation, and on-site material coordination. You will ensure all work aligns with T‑Mobile’s construction standards and “Gold Standard” requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the physical relocation of all active Ericsson equipment—including basebands, power units, and shelves—from legacy cabinets into new or existing Ericsson 6160 enclosures.
  • Reroute, secure, and manage existing hybrid fiber/power cables, including slack management, power lead terminations, and fiber jumper handling. Ensure fibers are migrated without damage or contamination. Install Flex boxes, junction boxes, or external cable management solutions as required.
  • Determine optimal conduit routing paths on-site. Perform conduit bending, installation, sealing, and weatherproofing to maintain site integrity and compliance.
  • Conduct a site-level gap analysis upon arrival to identify missing or required materials (nuts, bolts, lugs, conduit, etc.). Place material orders through approved online portals and coordinate with the Back Office (BO) for material delivery or pickup.
  • Make real‑time decisions regarding cabinet layout, equipment placement, and routing based on site constraints, ensuring all work aligns with T‑Mobile’s “Gold Standard” construction requirements.

Hands‑on experience mounting and wiring Ericsson enclosures (6160/6130) and associated baseband and power equipment.

Advanced knowledge of T‑Mobile grounding standards, including H‑Taps, C‑Taps, cad welding, and DC power wiring.

Proficiency with long‑haul hybrid cables, fiber inspection, cleaning, and connection using scopes and approved cleaning tools.
