Topa Group, Inc. is partnering up with a Fire Alarm Integrator in San Francisco looking to bring on a Lead Fire Alarm Programmer.

Position Overview

The Fire Alarm Programmer is responsible for programming, configuring, and commissioning fire alarm systems to ensure they meet design specifications, code requirements, and client expectations. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and familiarity with multiple fire alarm platforms. The Programmer will work closely with project managers, field technicians, and clients to deliver fully functional and compliant fire alarm systems.

Responsibilities
  • Program, configure, and test fire alarm control panels and associated devices.
  • Perform system startup, commissioning, and final acceptance testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, network, and communication issues.
  • Upload/download system configurations and perform firmware updates as required.
  • Coordinate with design teams to verify programming against engineered drawings and device lists.
  • Create and maintain as-built programming documentation and configuration files.
  • Support technicians and project managers with technical guidance during installation and commissioning.
  • Ensure all programming complies with NFPA, local AHJ, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Interface with related building systems (security, HVAC, elevator recall, access control, etc.) as needed.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support for service and warranty work.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fire alarm programming or systems integration.
  • Proficient in programming platforms such as Notifier, EST, Simplex, Silent Knight, Gamewell-FCI, or Fire‑Lite (specify preferred systems).
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, and sequence of operations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
