Hours: Full‑time, night shift (11 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.) with possible overtime, weekends and holidays

Role DescriptionUnder supervision, the Asphalt Finisher spreads, rakes, and finishes asphalt mixtures for street maintenance and repair projects. Responsibilities include operating an asphalt kettle and tool heater, assisting with job‑site cleanup, setting up job sites safely, and completing related duties as required.
Essential Functions & Duties- Spread and rake asphaltic mixtures
- Iron asphalt to achieve a compact and smooth surface
- Clean cut‑outs and prepare sub‑grades before paving
- Assist with cleanup of the job site after repairs
- Set up job sites (cones, barricades, signs) safely
- Complete standard job reports
- Operate the screed on an asphalt paver (if required)
- Operate asphalt milling machine as required
- Operate asphalt kettle and tool heater (if required)
- Drive a vehicle to work sites
- Perform other functions outlined in the 7404 Asphalt Finisher classification
- Experience with Caterpillar pavers
- Experience with Volvo pavers
- Education: None required
- Experience: 2 years of verifiable experience in street paving and repair as an asphalt worker
- License & Certification: Valid California Driver’s License
