• Determine work to be done from work orders or blueprints, selecting type, cut, and material.
• Cut, bend, and form sheet metal parts using hand or power tools and joining equipment.
• Erect scaffolds for work at high locations.
• Lift and set sheet metal parts in place, connecting with other units.
• Use solder, arc welding, and other welding equipment to join metal parts.
• Fabricate and install HVAC systems and all associated sheet metal components.
• Fabricate and install architectural sheet metal parts such as skylights, gutters, downspouts, and louvers.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Completion of a recognized sheet metal worker’s apprenticeship program in the Building Trades.
• Three (3) years of journeyman‑level sheet metal working experience.
• Valid California driver license.
• Physical ability to perform strenuous work and dexterity with fingers, limbs, and body.

• Written Examination (40%) – assesses knowledge of sheet metal trade methods, safety, fabrication, repair, and blueprint reading.
• Oral/Performance Examination (60%) – evaluates practical skills, accuracy, and tool use.
• Successful candidates will be ranked on an eligible list and may be considered for other related positions.
