Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment. This role will complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis. The technician will assist in the repair, maintenance, upkeep, and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork, and furniture refinishing), in accordance with hotel standards, and will also assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned.

  • Expertise in maintaining HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, and painting in hotel settings.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Physical capability to handle and move heavy equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to property guidelines to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of team members and guests.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.
  • Utilize Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and in accordance with property specific guidelines.
  • Manage guest requests, inquiries, and complaints promptly, ensuring follow‑up with guests is performed in a timely manner to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction and quality service.
  • Carry out regular maintenance tasks and thorough inspections to uphold the operational integrity of hotel systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and monitor inventory of supplies for efficiency.
  • Safely perform complex repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters—ensuring all methods, materials, and practices meet company standards and local and national codes—with little or no supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on all types of equipment, including pump and motor replacement, plumbing (e.g., plunging toilets and unclogging drains), electrical equipment (lamps, air conditioners, HVAC equipment, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices), replacing electrical switches and outlets, and programming TVs. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, and properly store flammable materials.
  • Ensure the work area is clean and clear of standing water, debris, or any objects that can prevent the job duties from being performed safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Support the setup and dismantling of equipment for hotel events as required.
  • Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
Position Requirements
  • Ability to interpret manufacturer’s literature for installation, preparation, use, and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and comply with deadlines for work assignments.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, twist, push, pull, and use power and hand tools.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
Work Schedule

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules, including holidays and weekends, to reflect the business needs of the hotel.

Wage Rate

$32.75 per hour
