Facilities Maintenance Technician - Building Engineer Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of airport building facilities. Duties include maintaining elevators, conveyor systems, mechanical systems, lighting systems, communication/radio systems, air handling units/HVAC units, fire systems, plumbing systems, and more. The role may involve work with PLC electronic systems, computer controls, and steel frame structures. Technicians must be prepared to work around-the-clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, outdoors in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance and repair on various airport building facilities such as elevators, conveyor systems, mechanical systems, and lighting systems.
- Work with communication/radio systems, air handling units/HVAC units, fire systems, and plumbing systems.
- Engage in tasks involving PLC electronic systems, computer controls, and steel frame structures.
- Operate and maintain high voltage electrical systems including AC & DC circuits.
- Read and follow wiring schematics and perform tasks independently.
- Conduct installations and repairs on single and multiphase electrical circuitry and devices.
- Collaborate on related building equipment and trades, including air handling units, plumbing and steam fitting, fire systems, and conveyors.
- Strong focus on electrical - including AC & DC circuits, high voltage (480), and high amperage.
- Experience in industrial wiring and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to make low and high voltage repairs to building electrical equipment.
- Experience in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Skills & Qualifications
- Journeyman electrical license is a plus.
- Experience in related building equipment and trades, such as air handling units, plumbing, steam fitting, fire systems, and conveyors.
- 24 months of experience required in at least three areas:
Electrical (including 480‑volt, 3 phase), Structural (including steel frame construction), HVAC (including building management systems), Mechanical (including electronic/computer controls). - Must possess a valid, clean, applicable state driver's license.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
The pay range for this position is $84,198.00 - $84,198.00 per year.

Work inside and outside airport terminals. Be prepared for all shifts, including weekends and holidays, and in all weather conditions. Facilities Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), and schedules are awarded based on seniority. Technicians must have their own tools and be able to climb ladders, walk for extended periods, and lift moderately.
