Position Overview
The Plumbing Foreman oversees all on‑site plumbing activities for multi‑family, commercial, and hospitality construction projects. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, building codes, and company standards. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical knowledge, proven field management experience, and the ability to coordinate teams, subcontractors, and schedules in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor plumbing crews on multi‑family, commercial, and hospitality job sites.
- Coordinate daily tasks, manpower needs, and workflow to meet project deadlines.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and submittals to ensure accurate installation.
- Work closely with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades to maintain smooth project execution.
Installation & Quality Control
- Oversee installation of plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, gas piping, fixtures, and equipment.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets code requirements and company standards.
- Troubleshoot system issues and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Ensure proper material handling, storage, and installation practices.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations on all job sites.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure crews follow safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, timecards, and material logs.
Planning & Problem‑Solving
- Forecast labor, materials, and equipment needs.
- Identify potential issues early and collaborate with project leadership to resolve them.
- Assist with scheduling inspections and ensuring timely approvals.
Qualifications
- Min. 5+ years of plumbing experience, with at least 2 years in a foreman or lead role.
- Strong background in multi‑family, commercial, and hospitality construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plumbing schematics.
- Knowledge of local plumbing codes and inspection processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Graduate of Apprenticeship Program is required for Journeyman.
Working conditions and management style
- Subject to adverse weather conditions – extreme heat and cold.
- Job sites can be loud, dusty.
- Level of supervision to be expected.
- May be working in elevated areas (up to 3 stories).
