Overview24 Hour Fitness has been a leader in the industry for over 40 years. This Facilities Technician Specialist – HVAC role will repair and maintain HVAC equipment in assigned clubs, provide training, and partner with vendors.
Responsibilities- Repair and maintain Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment in all club areas.
- Troubleshoot, repair or replace HVAC components as directed by the Regional Manager of Facilities (RMF).
- Monitor Energy Management System (EMS) and work with the EMS vendor on issues.
- Execute and monitor the implementation of the Corporate HVAC Strategy.
- Inspect and verify HVAC component operation and safety.
- Work with the General Manager (GM) and Facilities Technician (FT) on maintenance needs and repair walk‑throughs.
- Handle special projects as directed by the Manager – HVAC Systems.
- Enter HVAC issues into the Work Order System.
- Perform OSHA safety checks and follow all OSHA, company and Facilities department safety guidelines.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) as directed by the Corporate HVAC Strategy and manufacturer specifications.
- Submit completed PM and Service reports via company documents.
- Facilitate and coordinate district‑level special projects.
- Provide technical expertise for HVAC across the district and support other FTs.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate scheduling with Manager – HVAC Systems or RMF.
- Train FTs within the districts in partnership with District Manager(s) and RMF.
- Engage with designated HVAC vendor for the districts and hold vendor accountable.
- Ensure proper scheduling for adequate maintenance coverage of the assigned area.
This position reports to the Manager – HVAC Systems with a dotted line to the Regional Manager of Facilities and communicates with club, district and regional management, club facilities technicians, lead facilities technicians, members and manufacturer’s service representatives.
Required QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair of various HVAC systems.
- Ability to read HVAC blueprints and schematics.
- Knowledge of refrigerants, internal system pressure, and high‑voltage systems.
- Basic hand tool and specialized HVAC tool knowledge.
- Refrigerant recovery equipment and vacuum pump proficiency.
- Computer skills and keyboarding.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of EPA, state and local regulations for HVAC repair and disposal.
- Professionalism, honesty, integrity and strong work ethic.
- Understanding of liability issues and personal/public injury risks.
- Effective communication and teamwork across diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work practices.
- Basic office equipment proficiency.
- Company‑provided refrigerant recovery equipment, oxygen and acetylene, nitrogen tank and hoses, safety equipment, HVAC repair parts.
- Personal vehicle capable of transporting tools and parts (mileage covered by 24 Hour Fitness).
- Hand tools: nut drivers, socket sets, screwdrivers, pipe cutters, crimpers.
- Digital multimeter, leak detector, manifolds with gauges and hoses.
- E.P.A. Type Universal Certification.
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC service and repair experience or 5+ years in‑house facilities technician experience.
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs., bend, squat, reach and stand for long periods.
- Exposure to coil cleaning chemicals, refrigerant, grease/oil and oxy‑acetylene.
- Available for overtime work.
- Maintain suitable transportation.
- Maintain basic toolset inventory monthly.
- Report to work in 24 Hour Fitness approved uniform.
- Travel by car across districts to visit multiple clubs up to 70 % of the time.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing or other code that overlaps HVAC.
- Read and react to HVAC blueprints and schematics.
- Knowledge of multi‑meters, computerized air quality meters, DDC controls and computer control systems.
Education & Certifications
- Vocational training in a facilities or maintenance program.

Compensation SummarySalary ranges vary by location:
Bay Area $66,360–82,980 (Exempt); 30.57–38.23 (Non‑Exempt). Other regions differ accordingly.
