The Urban Farming Coordinator (San Francisco) is a contract, on-site role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, owning the day-to-day operations of our rooftop and urban farm installations across the city. Reporting to the Director of Farming, the coordinator plans planting schedules, leads crop maintenance and harvesting, and keeps every site healthy, productive, and clean. Day to day, you will monitor growing conditions, apply best practices in urban agriculture, and maintain the tools and equipment that keep the farms thriving.

You will be the face of Micro Habitat on site, building strong relationships with property stakeholders and community participants, organizing on-site workshops and visits, and supporting educational and engagement activities. The role also includes reporting on site performance, documenting yields and issues, collaborating with the broader Micro Habitat team, and ensuring safety and compliance with local regulations.

This is a contract position starting August 3rd, paying $35/hour, with reliable transportation within the Bay Area required. Contract End date is November 12th.

• Relevant experience in urban agriculture, horticulture, or sustainable farming, including hands‑on work with plants, soil, and crop maintenance.
• Knowledge of rooftop or container gardening practices, irrigation systems, and basic plant health diagnostics.
• Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage multiple sites, schedules, and stakeholders across the San Francisco Bay Area.
• Clear, professional communication skills for engaging with building partners, community members, and internal teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on site, troubleshoot issues in the field, and prioritize tasks safely and efficiently.
• Comfort with physical, outdoor work across varying weather conditions, and the ability to lift and transport materials as needed.
• Genuine interest in sustainability, community‑building, and reconnecting people with their food. Prior experience in community engagement or education is an asset.
• Valid authorization to work in the United States and reliable transportation within the San Francisco Bay Area. Availability to work flexible hours as required by site needs.
