Job Summary

The Small Cell Technician supports the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of small cell wireless infrastructure in support of 4G LTE and 5G network deployments. Working under the supervision of experienced technicians and crew leads, this position assists with the installation of antennas, remote radio units (RRUs), fiber optic cabling, power systems, and associated telecommunications equipment on utility poles, streetlight poles, rooftops, and related structures.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and interested in developing a career within wireless telecommunications construction.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with the installation and integration of small cell wireless network infrastructure.
  • Support the installation of antennas, remote radio units (RRUs), concealment equipment, mounting hardware, cabling, and power systems.
  • Assist with routing, dressing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and RF cabling.
  • Perform basic DC power and grounding installations in accordance with customer and industry standards.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, RF data sheets, and installation documentation.
  • Assist with site preparation activities, including small-scope civil work, equipment staging, material handling, and site cleanup.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and test equipment safely and effectively.
  • Support fiber testing, sweep testing, PIM testing, and other commissioning activities as directed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing network equipment, cabling, and power systems.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, customer standards, and industry best practices.
  • Accurately document completed work, inventory usage, and installation results.
  • Maintain a professional work environment and effectively communicate with team members, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous construction, telecommunications, utility, electrical, or fiber experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, and construction practices.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass all customer-required background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record reviews.
  • Ability to meet DOT requirements where applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in telecommunications, wireless construction, utility construction, or fiber optics.
  • Familiarity with RF equipment, fiber optic cabling, and DC power systems.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience operating aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or similar equipment.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications construction practices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required.
  • Ability to work from utility poles, rooftops, bucket trucks, and elevated work platforms.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive physical activities throughout the workday.
  • Ability to travel as required to support project needs.

    Ability to work overtime and weekends as business needs dictate.
