Under the supervision of the Director of College and Career Pathways, the Student Success Advocate (SSA) works closely with the Student Support team to provide counseling, case management, and outreach services to primarily youth and families, as well as serving as a program leader during the after school program. SSA will provide case management services to up to 20 high school students throughout the school year, in addition to students in need of drop-in support or crisis intervention.

The SSA will also provide at least one weekly support group for 9 th /10 th graders. Services include intake, assessment, goal setting and plan development, advocacy, and referrals to appropriate resources and therapeutic support. The SSA is responsible for completing paperwork including ongoing progress notes, quarterly evaluations, and intake and closing documentation. The SSA will also participate in the development and implementation of a summer program for high school students.

Lastly, the SSA will work collaboratively with the PACE team at Burton High School to plan and attend school and community events, programs, and workshops.

The Student Success Advocate must be available Monday – Friday; 8:30am-6:30pm. Hours may vary slightly in accordance with the SFUSD calendar and program needs, including some nights and weekends. The Student Success Advocate is not scheduled to work during the SFUSD holidays during the school year, including Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks, but may have opportunities to work at other programs in that time.
