The Addiction Provider (MD) is responsible for the management of withdrawal, the initiation, maintenance, and support of Medically Assisted Treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders for Health RIGHT 360 clients. The Addiction provider is responsible for taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, using screening tools, ordering, and interpreting laboratory tests, and diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries. This position is responsible for collaborating with the Intake Department to assess safe entry into our detox and residential treatment programs for patients with substance use disorders.

Addiction Providers may be located within Health RIGHT 360's residential recovery programs, detox programs, or community health centers to provide direct patient care.

The Addiction Provider may also provide supervision and oversight for Advanced Practice Providers in Collaborative Agreements, providing supervision and having input in the clinical review, performance appraisal, peer review and hiring and termination of such staff. The Addiction Provider also supervises the MAT healthcare treatment team in the absence of the Director of Addiction Medicine, which includes: managing Medical Assistant functions, and Registered Nurse functions.

The position may require work during the night and on weekends.

• Assesses drug and alcohol use and determines the level of severity using screening tools and current DSM criteria.
• Determines medication withdrawal management for patients detoxing from drugs and alcohol to prevent withdrawal complications.
• Determines appropriate level of treatment care based on current drug and alcohol use.
• Prescribes various Medical Assisted Treatments to reduce harm and prevent complications from drug and alcohol use.
• Educates and prescribes Naloxone to patients to reduce harm from drug use.
• Educates, supports, and cares for patients receiving medication-assisted treatment in continuity and maintenance.
• Analyzes and interprets patient history, symptoms, physical findings, and/or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
• Maintains complete and detailed records of patient's history, assessment, and health care plans.
• Takes medical histories, performs physical examinations, orders, and interprets laboratory tests, and diagnoses and treats common illnesses and injuries.
• Diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury related to addiction use disorder.
