Social Workers – Early Start Division (San Francisco Office) Starting Salary
Bachelor's Degree: $58,083 - $69,700
Master's Degree: $64,008 - $76,810
What You’ll Do- Conduct needs assessment and develop Family Service Plan for clients aged 0‑3.
- Advocate and serve as service coordinator to clients and families.
- Travel locally within San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin counties; occasional statewide travel; reliable transportation required.
- Meet clients/families, conduct needs assessment, develop action plans for community resources and referrals.
- Provide intake services, crisis management, educational resources, and assistance with problem‑solving.
- Monitor child developmental status and provide developmental activities to enhance development.
- Advocate for receipt of entitled services and educate on resources and policies (Medicaid Waiver, Institutional Deeming).
- Review and ensure client services, evaluate availability and effectiveness of services.
- Research available community resources and services; initiate referrals and monitor progress.
- Participate in community meetings, staff meetings, and task forces.
- Maintain client records, case notes, and Title XIX progress notes.
- Determine eligibility for further services; coordinate transition to school districts or other programs.
- Prepare special incident reports and other required reports.
- Ensure compliance with program policies and California regulations.
- Experience in multicultural and/or multilingual settings.
- Knowledge of identifying and navigating generic services.
- Knowledge of principles, objectives, and techniques of counseling individuals.
- Knowledge of typical and atypical child development behavior, human growth, and family relationships.
- Knowledge of state and federal legislation concerning Early Start regulations and services for high‑risk infants and families.
- Good interview skills and team spirit.
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities and focus on key job outcomes.
- Ability to proactively stay current with new information in area of expertise.
- Excellent communication skills for producing documents in a business manner and conveying complex information clearly, concisely, and professionally.
- Familiarity with MS Office or similar software applications.
- Creativity and problem‑solving skills.
- Organizational skills and time management.
- Crisis management and decision making.
- Empathic and able to respect and support cultural awareness.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of social welfare or related human services field; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- Case management experience with infants or children under 4 is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred for this position; there is a possibility for a bilingual Spanish caseload if needed.
