Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one employment services focused on barrier removal, life skills, job readiness, vocational counseling, job search, retention, and referrals
- Conduct assessments and intakes to determine program eligibility, client needs, and appropriate referrals
- Assess participants' occupational skills and interests against the local job market
- Help clients set and achieve employment objectives
- Co-create and support implementation of Individual Employment Plans
- Maintain knowledge of local resources
- Assess and refer clients to mental health, medical, legal, crisis intervention, housing, transportation, training, group activity, and workshop resources
- Support group activities for job seekers
- Coordinate and facilitate job-search workshops and life-skills classes for Trans/GNC/LGBTQ community members
- Deliver individual and group instruction using demonstrations, lectures, guest speakers, cooperative learning, and other teaching modalities
- Support career fairs, employer engagement events, drop-in groups, workshops, and other Employment Services programs
- Maintain client files, enrollment forms, employment and retention documentation, contact records, and feedback forms
- Ensure confidentiality of program participants and client files
- Document group activities and update Salesforce records
- Perform administrative work including data entry in Salesforce, Workforce Central, and Share Point
- Support meeting facilitation, minute-taking, statistical reporting, and written narratives
- Build partnerships with Center teams and collaborative agencies
- Participate as a member of the Employment Services team
- Collaborate on department planning, evaluation, and best-practice sharing
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Cultural humility and demonstrated commitment to the transgender community
- Familiarity with the diversity of transgender, lesbian, gay, and bisexual identities/experiences
- Minimum one year of experience in workforce development, employment services, community development, case management, or volunteer management with adults from various professional backgrounds
- Detail-oriented and able to complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
- Strong presentation skills, networking, public speaking, and group facilitation skills
- Understanding of local resources, local and state employment laws, and employment resources for trans communities
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented organizational structure
- Experience working collaboratively with multiple agencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency in MS Office or similar programs
- Understanding of relational database concepts
- Competent Internet use and excellent research abilities
- Innovative and entrepreneurial approach to complex issues
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities
- Commitment to the mission of the San Francisco LGBT Community Center
- Strong commitment to racial, social, and economic justice, demonstrated through past or present work
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work some evenings and/or weekends
- Ability to operate a computer and common office machinery for up to eight hours daily
- Ability to remain stationary for several hours daily
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
- Ability to work in a shared office space with moderate noise levels
Demonstrates expertise in providing employment services, including vocational counseling, job readiness, and barrier removal for diverse communities, particularly the transgender community. Proficient in conducting assessments, developing Individual Employment Plans, and maintaining client confidentiality while utilizing local resources effectively.
