AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
Overview
At Mesh, we’re building toward a future where AI is embedded into how we operate, not layered on top. We’re looking for a hands‑on AI Operations Lead to help us move faster, reduce operational drag, and unlock leverage across the company. This role sits at the intersection of business, product, and engineering translating real operational pain points into scalable AI‑powered solutions.
You’ll partner closely with leaders across Engineering, GTM, Product, and Operations to identify inefficiencies, build intelligent workflows, and drive adoption across teams. You won’t just be solving problems in isolation, you’ll help define how Mesh becomes an AI‑first company, building the systems, standards, and internal tooling that compounds over time.
- Deeply understand how teams operate across Mesh and proactively uncover inefficiencies
- Translate business challenges into clear automation and AI opportunities
- Prioritize initiatives based on impact, speed, and scalability
- Design and ship AI‑powered workflows, automations, and internal tools
- Leverage a mix of custom code, APIs, and no/low‑code platforms
- Own solutions end‑to‑end — from concept to production to iteration
- Partner with functional leaders to ensure solutions are actually used and integrated into daily workflows
- Lead internal enablement (trainings, playbooks, demos)
- Create repeatable patterns that teams can independently build on
- Align closely with executives and functional leads on priorities and tradeoffs
- Clearly communicate progress, risks, and outcomes
- Help shape how AI is embedded into each org’s operating model
- Define success metrics for each initiative (efficiency gains, time saved, adoption, etc.)
- Build dashboards and reporting to track impact
- Continuously iterate based on data and feedback
- Develop foundational assets: prompt libraries, SOPs, templates, and integration patterns
- Standardize how we build, evaluate, and scale AI solutions internally
- Ensure we are operating with rigor around security, quality, and reliability
- 3–6 years of experience across product, operations, technical program management, solutions engineering, or similar roles
- Proven track record of both identifying problems and building solutions
- Experience working in fast‑paced, high‑growth (Series A‑C) environments (startup experience preferred)
- Thrives in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments and can move from idea->execution quickly
- A considered expert in using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or similar in your daily workflow
- Experience building with LLM APIs, prompt design, and agent‑based workflows
- Comfortable working with executives and influencing across functions
- Experience driving internal adoption of tools or systems
- Background in building internal knowledge bases, SOPs, or enablement programs
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration (webhooks, APIs, integrations) (huge plus)
- Experience with data infrastructure or analytics tooling (huge plus)
