We're looking for experienced Software Engineers to join our new Web Platform team. This role is critical to supporting the development infrastructure for our web-based products.

You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining the systems that enable our engineering teams to deliver high-quality, performant web experiences for our users. You’ll work on a variety of critical initiatives including Dev Prod infrastructure, performance optimization for smoothers,  migrations, and improving frontend alerting and monitoring systems. You’ll directly contribute to transforming the quality and experience of our web product.

• Optimize performance for critical web components, particularly focusing on improving ARS (Application Response Speed)
• Design and implement solutions for customizable user interfaces and experience components
• Develop and improve frontend alerting and monitoring systems to ensure product reliability
• Build self‑serve capabilities for feature teams to create frontend components without needing deep technical expertise
• Support developer productivity initiatives to improve the ergonomics of web development at Anthropic
• Contribute to upgrading and maintaining core web technologies (React, NextJS, Yarn)
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver cohesive web experiences
• Participate in planning efforts to ensure proper scoping and engineering allocation

• 6+ years of practical experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on web technologies
• Deep expertise in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React and NextJS (ie, “backend‑of‑the‑frontend” subject‑matter expertise)
• Experience optimizing web application performance and measuring metrics like ARS
• Strong technical background in frontend and/or full‑stack development
• Familiarity with frontend monitoring and alerting systems
• Track record of successfully managing technical migrations
• Experience supporting developer productivity and tooling
• Excellent collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively across functions
• Track record of delivering high‑quality, scalable software in production environments

• Experience working with AI products or integrating AI models into web applications
• Background in design systems implementation
• Experience with multi‑region deployment architectures
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and implementation
• Proficiency with Type Script and strong typing systems
• Experience with frontend performance optimization techniques
• Background in building developer tools or infrastructure

Annual Salary: $320,000 — $485,000 USD

Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Location‑based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren’t able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
