We build the system that provides real‑time visibility and control over every dollar spent. Rippling Spend unifies corporate cards, reimbursements, procurement, bill pay, and travel into a single workflow that connects directly to accounting and payroll. We enforce policy, approvals, and accounting in real time, creating a scalable system across payments, data consistency, permissions, and scale.

• Corporate Cards: Physical and virtual cards with built‑in controls, configurable limits, and policy enforcement. Engineering work includes payments infrastructure, risk systems, authorization flows, and high‑trust financial user experiences.
• Expense Management: Streamlined workflow for employees to submit expenses and for finance teams to review, approve, and reimburse. Engineering involves policy engines, approvals, mobile and web experiences, and deep integrations with payroll and accounting.
• Bill Pay: Unified way to manage vendor invoices, approval chains, and outgoing payments. Engineering spans document ingestion, workflow automation, financial operations, and money movement.
• Travel: Booking workflows integrated with the spend stack. Engineers build booking experiences, policy enforcement, compliance, and post‑purchase spend workflows.
• Procurement: Centralized request, approval, and management of purchases before money is spent. Engineering covers workflow engines, dynamic forms, vendor management, and integrations with bill pay, accounting, and policy enforcement.
• Banking: Stores, moves, and manages money with built‑in controls and real‑time visibility. Engineering involves ledgering, money‑movement rails, compliance and risk controls, and high‑reliability infrastructure.

• Own the design and implementation of core backend services and APIs that power critical product capabilities and complex business logic.
• Ensure all systems are built for high‑volume scale, reliability, and security, making strategic decisions about infrastructure and data integrity.
• Work seamlessly with product, frontend, and platform teams to translate feature goals into robust, high‑performance technical solutions.
• Elevate the team's technical standards, lead code and design reviews, and mentor engineers on backend best practices.

• 5+ years of experience in a production environment using Python, Go, or a similar high‑scale backend language.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture, data modeling, and performance optimization of relational databases.
• Experience contributing to systems operating at significant technical and organizational scale.
• Strong understanding of CS/algorithms fundamentals and experience with complex project delivery.
• Exceptional communication skills with technical and cross‑functional stakeholders.

This role will receive a competitive salary with benefits and equity. The pay range for this role is USD 159,000 – 278,250 per year (US Tier 1).
