Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations.
- Automate mission planning and execution to efficiently operate the Leo fleet at scale, while maintaining space safety and maximizing service availability for Leo satellite Internet customers.
- Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages in a real‑time operating system environment.
- Develop AWS cloud services that manage the Leo satellites.
- Write system applications for satellite telemetry, file transfer, and command.
- Work closely with Leo ground service teams and satellite agent teams to support satellite operations.
The team owns end‑to‑end Leo satellite onboard agents and ground services that interact with them to provide seamless Leo satellite command, file transfer, telemetry, and logging.
Basic Qualifications- 5+ years of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 1+ year of embedded firmware development experience.
Base salary range: $ - $ USD annually. The package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
