Android Engineer

Particle is a startup based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we’re reimagining the daily news experience. We’re seeking a Staff Android Engineer to lead the development of Particle’s Android app. In this role, you’ll take ownership of Particle’s Android app from start to finish and beyond.

You'll be joining a small, product-minded team with backgrounds from leading tech companies (Twitter, Tesla, Periscope, Git Hub). We value clarity, curiosity, and speed in our work. This position reports directly to Particle's CEO.

• 5+ years of professional Android development (Java & Kotlin), including experience using Android SDKs, tools, and libraries
• Experience with Jetpack Compose
• Significant ownership of shipped apps on Google Play
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with prototyping and iteration
• Self-starter who takes initiative and drives projects forward
• Product-focused mindset and instincts, understanding the importance of delivering excellent user experiences
• Strong experience with LLMs

• Experience using LLMs in a production environment
• Interest or background in news and journalism
