Job Description

AI Talent Now Job #ZR 69

Company Overview
  • This company focuses on human risk management by targeting interventions to drive better behavior and reduce risk.
  • This company has one product manager and values independent product intuition.
Role Requirements
  • Full stack role with a 30% backend and 70% frontend focus; product engineering with strong frontend lean.
  • Requires experience in React and familiarity with GraphQL is beneficial.
Candidate Requirements
  • Senior role requires 5+ years of experience, with strong intuition for product development and architecture.
  • Mid-level role is more flexible, but backend-to-frontend schema knowledge is a plus.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Should have product impact experience, willingness to work across frontend and backend, and mentor others.
  • Startup experience is preferred for autonomous product intuition.
Compensation and Logistics
  • Hybrid model in San Francisco, with office days from Tuesday to Thursday.
Timeline and Urgency
  • Role has been open for several months; urgency to find candidates who fit the product-focused profile.
Pain Points
  • Struggle with candidate strength; many applicants are too focused on frontend infrastructure rather than product development.
Interview Process
  • Starts with a technical phone screen, followed by a hiring manager screen and onsite interviews.
  • Focus on frontend coding knowledge and product sense.
Responsibilities
  • Build high-quality, responsive interfaces using React, Next.js, and modern web technologies – with a strong emphasis on product engineering rather than infrastructure or platform work.
  • Own features end-to-end, from front end through to backend logic, data modelling, and schema design – this is a full stack role that skews front end (roughly 70/30), not a pure front end role.
  • Work directly on customer-facing products – including video briefings, compliance training modules, and real-time notification surfaces across Slack and Google Chat – and take clear ownership of their impact on end users.
  • Help evolve the integration between our front end and backend, including improving how data is loaded efficiently and how our GraphQL schema is extended safely and backwards‑compatibly over time.
  • Engage with early users, learn from feedback, and iterate quickly – bringing a measurable customer lens to your work, not just shipping features but understanding the user problems they solve.
  • Contribute to a strong engineering culture through code reviews, shared ownership, and mentorship – particularly around front end best practices.
  • Ship production‑grade code quickly and thoughtfully, balancing quality and speed in a fast‑moving environment where you are expected to move with autonomy and confidence.
Qualifications
  • 3 – 10 years of experience as a frontend‑leaning product engineer at start‑up or scale‑ups.
  • Demonstrated track record building complex products from end to end with tangible customer impact.
  • Prior start‑up or scale‑up experience with proven ability to take features from concept to production and run at problems independently.
  • Strong frontend fundamentals (must have React) with demonstrated experience mentoring engineers on frontend best practices whilst still working on the backend.
  • Experience with the backend to frontend integration including how to load data effectively or structure and safely evolve a backend schema with GraphQL.
  • Experience with frontend video streaming or implementing backend logic (Django).
  • Demonstrated product intuition and understands inherent need and importance (e.g., specific customer frustrations) and how success should be measured post‑launch.
