About Sierra

At Sierra, we’re creating a platform to help businesses build better, more human customer experiences with AI. We are primarily an in-person company based in San Francisco, with growing offices in Atlanta, New York, London, Paris, Madrid, Munich, Singapore, Japan, and Sydney.

We are guided by a set of values that are at the core of our actions and define our culture:
Trust, Customer Obsession, Craftsmanship, Intensity, and Family. These values are the foundation of our work, and we are committed to upholding them in everything we do.

Our co-founders are Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor. Bret currently serves as Board Chair of OpenAI. Previously, he was co-CEO of Salesforce (which had acquired the company he founded, Quip) and CTO of Facebook. Bret was also one of Google s earliest product managers and co-creator of Google Maps. Before founding Sierra, Clay spent 18 years at Google, where he most recently led Google Labs.

Earlier, he started and led Google’s AR/VR effort, Project Starline, and Google Lens. Before that, Clay led the product and design teams for Google Workspace.

What You'll Do
  • Own frontend across product and marketing surfaces: work across core product interface and customer-facing web pages to ensure a cohesive, polished user experience across all touch points. This includes building features in the web app and collaborating on our website to keep branding and user experience consistent and high-quality.
  • Lead design system and UI components: design, build, and maintain a scalable design system and reusable component library that empowers engineers and designers, ensuring consistency and excellence across all product surfaces. Collaborate with designers to establish guidelines and patterns for rapid, high-quality UI work.
  • Craft pixel-perfect user experiences: translate Figma designs into reality with pixel-perfect precision and delightful interactions. Partner with designers to refine UI patterns and ensure typography, spacing, motion, and hover states meet high standards.
  • Champion frontend excellence: set and uphold high standards for performance, accessibility, and code quality. Optimize frontend for speed and ensure the product works across browsers and devices. Incorporate accessibility and internationalization best practices.
  • Move fast with pragmatism and quality: iterate quickly to ship improvements while balancing maintainability and polish. Make thoughtful engineering trade-offs that consider user experience and business impact.
  • Full-stack involvement: while focus is frontend, collaborate across the stack when needed. Integrate frontend features with a GraphQL API and occasionally update server-side code (Go/gqlgen) to unblock frontend work.
What You'll Bring
  • Frontend expertise and modern skills: extensive experience (5+ years) building web interfaces using React, Type Script, HTML, and CSS. Track record of shipping polished UIs. Bonus points for Tailwind or similar CSS frameworks.
  • Design sense and attention to detail: keen eye for design and user experience; pride in pixel-perfect, intuitive UIs and proactively fixing UI issues.
  • Strong collaboration and communication: ability to work with designers and product managers to achieve the best outcomes; clear communication about tradeoffs and solutions.
  • Self-motivation and drive: goal-oriented, proactive, and able to own projects with minimal guidance in fast-paced environments.
  • Pragmatic problem-solving: balance ideal solutions with pragmatic deliverables, focusing on user impact and maintainability.
  • Front-to-back understanding: solid understanding of backend fundamentals; familiarity with GraphQL APIs and/or Golang is a plus.
Even better...
  • Design systems experience: contribution to design systems or component libraries, including familiarity with Figma.
  • UI/UX specialization: experience with user research, visual design, or interaction design.
  • Domain experience: exposure to AI or ML products, especially UIs for complex data or AI-driven features.
  • Full-stack prowess: familiarity with GraphQL, Go or other back-end languages, and cloud platforms.
  • Startup mentality: prior experience at a startup or small team, with willingness to wear multiple hats.
Our values
  • Trust: accountability, empathy, quality, and responsiveness in our work and AI products.
  • Customer Obsession: focus on customer outcomes and direct engagement with customers.
  • Craftsmanship: attention to details in every aspect of the product and engineering process.
  • Intensity: strive for the best product, address issues openly and productively.
  • Family: balance and collaboration, supporting each other and respecting diverse achievements.
