Agent Mail is building the identity and communication infrastructure for AI agents, starting with email — giving agents their own persistent, fully-managed inboxes that handle parsing, threading, labeling, searching, and replying, so agents get the same email experience as humans. The company is above $2M ARR with close to 3,000 customers, largely PLG-driven on $20 and $200 plans, and is seeing 15,000–20,000 signups per month growing ~40% since the start of the year (largely organic via web traffic, Reddit, Twitter, Discord, and Linked In).
Raised $6M from General Catalyst, Y Combinator, Paul Graham, Paul Copplestone, and Karim Atiyeh, with a team coming from Optiver, Nvidia, and Accel.

- Category-defining infrastructure: Building the identity and communication layer (email first) for AI agents — a net-new, fast-growing category.
- Real traction, early seat: $2M+ ARR, ~3,000 customers, 15–20K signups/month growing ~40% YTD — with meaningful equity (up to 2%) as an early hire.
- First growth-systems hire, founder-adjacent: Owns the growth operating system end to end, reports directly to the founder, and has wide latitude to decide the stack and build from scratch.
- No intake-call transcript was provided on the role page. An intake video is available on Contrario but was not transcribed here — pull it directly if a summary is needed before sourcing.
Agent Mail is hiring a GTM Engineer to build the operating system for the company's growth playbook — turning a founder-run, personal-automation setup into a mapped, actionable system and owning the full growth pipeline end to end. This is a technical-first hire
: the founder is explicit that a technical degree and hands-on technical comfort matter more than formal GTM/growth experience, because deeply understanding the product is what earns internal buy-in.
- Build and own the data and reporting infrastructure that turns growth signals into actionable decisions (aggregating signup, product-usage, and engagement data into a single source of truth)
- Decide what software and tooling the growth stack runs on, and what gets cut
- Build outbound systems: lookalike targeting, Linked In automation, warm-intro identification
- Own end-to-end orchestration of the growth pipeline, from signup through activation and expansion
- Partner closely with the founder to scale existing organic channels (web, Reddit, Twitter, Discord, Linked In) and evaluate new ones
- Build lightweight AI tooling (e.g. Slack agents, dashboards) to make growth data actionable across the team
Tech stack: Not specified on the role page. Work spans data/reporting infrastructure, outbound automation, and lightweight internal AI tooling.
Requirements- New grad to 6-7+ years experience
- Technical degree or equivalent hands-on ability
- Scrappy, fast-building, low ego
- US citizen or existing visa only
- High ownership, no playbook to inherit
- SF in-person
- Genuine passion and proactivity: calls out what's wrong and takes ownership of fixing it without waiting to be assigned
- Deep interest in and understanding of Agent Mail's product and technical infrastructure, demonstrated before the first conversation
- Technical background (CS, data science, or comparable) paired with a scrappy, fast-building mindset
- Prior experience at a technical, high-caliber startup (Firecrawl, Ramp, Clay, or comparable)
- Low ego: high caliber without needing to be the center of attention
- High ego or a track record of not doing well in flat, high-ownership team structures
- Treats the role as a stepping stone rather than a genuine long-term bet on the company
- Non-technical background with no demonstrated ability to build or iterate on systems
- Seeking a people-management path rather than staying hands-on as an individual…
