Lead Software Engineer, Embedded Systems

About the Role

Salesforce is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive impactful code for our AI CRM platform. You will design, develop, and maintain high‑quality, production‑ready code for our cloud platform, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable solutions.

• Envision and build new components/frameworks in distributed file systems.
• Design and develop production‑ready code for millions of users.
• Create efficient components and algorithms for microservice, multi‑tenant SaaS cloud environments.
• Review code, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance.
• Research, design, and develop specialized software and utility programs.
• Enhance existing software capabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, deployment automation, documentation, refinement, planning, and retros.
• Lead, collaborate, communicate, and mentor the team and company.
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver roadmaps aligned with business goals.
• Resolve complex technical issues, driving innovations that improve scalability, robustness, and availability.
• Troubleshoot service issues and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Maintain and share technical documentation used by engineers.

• 12+ years of software development experience.
• Mastery of systems design and programming languages such as Java and Python.
• Deep knowledge of distributed file systems on‑premises and in the cloud.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and non‑relational databases (PostgreSQL, Trino).
• Experience developing SaaS products over public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven experience designing and developing distributed systems at scale.
• Proficiency with queues, locks, scheduling, event‑driven architecture, and workload distribution.
• Strong software development best practices and leadership skills.

• Design patterns and experience with big‑data/ML and Amazon S3.
• Hands‑on experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience with Elasticsearch.
• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience in a high‑paced, rapidly growing multinational organization.

Base salary ranges from $172,500 to $260,100 annually (or $207,800 to $285,800 in select cities in the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan areas).
