A founding level AI Product Engineer opportunity has opened up at a growing AI infrastructure startup. This is a rare founding-level role where you will shape product direction, and own features from concept through to production.
The RoleThe AI Product Engineer will sit at the intersection of engineering and product, taking end-to-end ownership of features and working closely with customers to understand what developers truly need. You will be building backend APIs, improving the developer experience, and contributing to a brand-new second product being created from the ground up. This is not a role with a long backlog handed to you, you will be identifying problems, validating solutions, and shipping fast.

This is a San Fransisco-based, open-source AI infrastructure business that is growing at exceptional pace, profitable, and backed by a startup accelerator. The team is small, highly capable, and founder-led, with a customer base that spans defence, entertainment, and enterprise technology at scale.
The role is fully onsite from their San Francisco offices.
What We’re Looking ForThe ideal candidate for the AI Product Engineer role will have:
- At least five years of full-stack engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping Python in production environments;
FastAPI exposure is a significant advantage - Demonstrated ability to engage directly with users, translate that feedback into actionable product decisions, and iterate quickly without needing detailed direction
- A computer science degree at bachelor's or master's level, plus evidence of initiative outside formal roles: side projects, hackathons, startup, or founding engineer experience would stand out
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you shape the brief as much as you follow one
