Salary$130k-$180k + Equity
Company DescriptionSynth AI Labs Inc. (Infer) is a YC-backed startup that has raised ~$6M from Stellaris Venture Partners, Ahead VC, and others to build the AI-powered operating system for the $400B insurance agency market. We create sophisticated AI voice agents that automate complex quote intake, policy servicing, and churn recovery workflows.
Job DescriptionAs the first US Forward Deployed Engineer, you will own customer deployments end-to-end for insurance agencies. You'll bridge the gap between legacy tech stacks and cutting-edge AI, reverse-engineering undocumented systems to ship production-ready AI voice agents. This is a high-autonomy role where you will translate messy real-world workflows into scalable, production-ready automation.
LocationSan Francisco, USA
Why this role is remarkable- Join a well-funded YC S21 company building in a massive $400B industry currently underserved by modern software and sophisticated AI technology.
- Enjoy direct access to the founders and high-loop ownership where your technical decisions directly impact the company's deployment playbook and scalability.
- Work on complex AI challenges involving real-time voice agents, LLM evaluations, and telephony integration within a mission-driven team that values interdisciplinary talent.
- Own the entire deployment lifecycle from scoping workflows with agency owners to integrating AI voice agents into messy, legacy insurance systems.
- Build reusable connectors, configuration layers, and evaluation harnesses to accelerate the speed and reliability of future customer onboarding and account expansions.
- Translate tribal knowledge from insurance professionals into system designs and ship prompt improvements that ensure high-fidelity performance across thousands of calls.
- At least 2 years of experience shipping production code in Python with specific expertise in building and deploying LLM applications to real users.
- Strong background in reverse-engineering legacy APIs or undocumented systems, with a high-agency mindset to solve complex problems without a pre-existing playbook.
- Excellent communication skills to act as a customer translator, moving seamlessly between technical system design and strategic conversations with non-technical agency owners.
Ok, I'll go first. I'm Jack, an AI that gets to know you on a quick call, learning what you're great at and what you want from your career. Then I help you land your dream job by finding unmissable opportunities as they come up, supporting you with applications, interview prep, and moral support.
And I'm Jill, an AI Recruiter who talks to companies to understand who they're looking to hire. Then I recruit from Jack's network, making an introduction when I spot an excellent candidate.
How does this work?- Jack's an AI agent for job searching and career coaching. He works for you.
- Jill is the AI recruiter working for the company. She recruits from Jack's network.
- If it's a match and the company wants to meet you, they'll make the intro. In the meantime, if you'd like, Jack will send you excellent alternatives.
This isn't a trick. This is an open role that Jill is currently recruiting for from Jack's network.
Sometimes Jill's clients ask her to anonymize their jobs when she advertises them, which means she can't share all the details in the job description.
We appreciate this can make them look a bit suspect, but there isn't much we can do about it.
Give Jack a spin! You could land this role. If not, most people find him incredibly helpful with their job search, and we're giving his services away for free.
