Senior Software Engineer

• Deliver end-to-end projects contributing to Quizlet’s product and business priorities, from planning and design through implementation, testing, and rollout
• Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests via Growth Book across acquisition, activation, or retention surfaces
• Own hypothesis framing through experiment result interpretation
• Partner with Data Science/Analytics to define success metrics, instrument events, and guard against false positives/negatives
• Build and maintain high-quality, scalable systems supporting learner lifecycle experiences
• Own a funnel or lifecycle surface such as signup, onboarding, or upgrade, including instrumentation and health
• Improve code quality, system reliability, and developer efficiency using industry best practices and modern technologies
• Lead and contribute to technical discussions and align the team on implementation decisions
• Break down complex projects into actionable tasks and execute with minimal oversight
• Identify and resolve issues proactively
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and domain-knowledge sharing
• Improve engineering practices across build systems, deployment pipelines, and observability tools
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to deliver scalable solutions for millions of learners

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects end-to-end, from design and implementation through testing and deployment
• Hands-on experience with experimentation/feature-flagging platforms such as Growth Book, Optimizely, Launch Darkly, or Statsig
• Working knowledge of experiment design fundamentals, including sample size/power, guardrail metrics, novelty effects, and avoiding false-positive conclusions
• Solid foundation in backend, mobile development, or full-stack engineering
• Experience building scalable, high-quality systems and user experiences
• Comfort working with event-tracking or analytics data pipelines such as Big Query and Pub/Sub
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make data-informed technical decisions
• Curiosity to explore and apply emerging technologies and frameworks
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Experience mentoring or guiding peers
• Bonus: experience with growth loops, referral/virality mechanics, lifecycle messaging, conversion rate optimization, funnel analytics, SEO/ASO, high-data or performance environments, mobile-first or multi-platform development, SDUI, incident response, or operational engineering practices
