Summary Overview
This role handles varying responsibilities as a Wheelchair Attendant and Baggage Handler. As a Wheelchair Attendant, your primary focus is to assist passengers with mobility challenges navigating through the airport. This position requires courteous and efficient service to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for passengers requiring wheelchair assistance. As our Baggage Handler, you will be to ensure the timely, efficient, and safe handling of passenger luggage from check-in to aircraft loading and vice versa.
You will be involved in loading and unloading baggage from conveyor belts and aircraft, ensuring that luggage is handled with care and sorted accurately according to flight destinations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely and comfortably assist passengers requiring mobility support in transferring to and from an aircraft seat using appropriate devices
- Push wheelchair passengers to and from airport gates
- Operate baggage handling equipment such as conveyor belts and trolleys
- Load and unload passenger luggage
- Sort and route baggage to the correct flight and carousel
- Assist passengers with handling checked, carry-on, and claimed luggage
- Safely guide passengers in wheelchairs down the jet bridge
- Ensure the proper placement of wheel brakes before passengers exit the wheelchair
- Complete necessary reports regarding wheelchairs or incidents
- Adhere to dispatcher gate orders
- Address passengers' questions or concerns with prompt and helpful assistance
- Demonstrate consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
- Exemplify Prime Flight customer service and safety standards
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
- Airlines are 24/7, so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
