Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to lead the firm’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and robust internal controls. This role oversees functions including general ledger management, payroll, accounts receivable/payable, fixed assets, and project accounting within Deltek. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with leadership capabilities to streamline processes, mentor staff, and support organizational growth.
This is a hybrid role. Candidates will be expected to report 3 days a week to one of our offices in San Jose, CA or San Francisco, CA.
Core Responsibilities Financial Reporting & General Accounting- Supervise and process revenue, expenses, and payroll entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, prepaid accounts, and accrued expenses.
- Enter payroll-related entries accurately and timely.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and monthly financial results; analyze variances.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Assist with tax preparation and collaborate with bankers and auditors as needed.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all accounting reports and processes.
- Oversee collections and apply payments efficiently.
- Manage accounts payable operations, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment execution, and corporate credit card oversight.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to the Director of Finance.
- Support revenue recognition and billing processes in Deltek.
- Optimize system utilization through enhanced reporting, workflows, and data accuracy.
- Provide coverage during staff absences and perform special accounting tasks requiring professional judgment.

Ideal Candidate- 5 + years of accounting experience in senior or supervisory roles (engineering or professional services preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, project accounting, payroll, and general ledger operations.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience (for Accounting Manager level).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Deltek (mandatory).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and work independently.
- Detail-oriented with pride in accuracy and ownership of work.
- Expertise in accounting functions including reconciliations, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll entries.
- Proficiency in project-based accounting systems, with Deltek experience required.
- Ability to work proactively, take initiative, and apply professional judgment to solve complex problems.
This is a hybrid role. It is anticipated that the working days in the office will be done at our San Jose or San Francisco office. The expected salary range for candidates who will work in San Jose, CA or San Francisco, CA is $110,000 - $115,000. The final offer to our new team member will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the length, breadth, and depth of experience within the job and the industry, education, etc.
