Tax Preparer

Description We are looking for an organized Tax Preparer to support a busy tax season in San Jose, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys producing accurate returns, managing multiple client files, and working with a range of entity types. The position focuses mainly on individual tax filings while also contributing to business and trust returns in a collaborative office environment.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review primarily individual income tax returns with a high level of accuracy and consistency.

- Assist with tax filings for partnerships, C corporations, S corporations, LLCs, and trusts as workload demands.

- Gather, organize, and assess client financial documents to ensure complete and compliant return preparation.

- Use tax preparation software to enter data, verify calculations, and finalize returns; training on Ultra Tax can be provided if needed.

- Work with bookkeeping records and financial reports, including information maintained in Quick Books, to support return completion.

- Identify missing information, resolve discrepancies, and follow up promptly to keep filings on schedule.

- Maintain detailed work papers and documentation that support completed tax returns and related calculations. Requirements - Prior experience preparing tax returns in an accounting or tax environment with a strong attention to detail.

- Hands-on knowledge of individual tax preparation and exposure to business entity returns.

- Familiarity with partnership and corporate tax concepts, including filings for C corps, S corps, and LLCs.

- Experience using tax software;
Ultra Tax knowledge is preferred, though training is available.

- Working knowledge of Quick Books and the ability to use financial data from bookkeeping systems.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work under seasonal deadlines.

- Effective organizational and time-management skills when handling multiple returns at once.
