Job SummaryThe Field Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. The role processes multiple weekly union/non‑union payrolls for more than 600 employees across various companies and supports a wide range of payroll‑related requests.
Responsibilities- Prioritize and process all timecards, corrections, and adjustments from field locations.
- Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of payroll checks to all site locations.
- Calculate and prepare manual layoff/termination/adjustment checks.
- Process transfers to ensure checks print in the correct location.
- Keep accurate control and distribution of payroll‑related reports and payments.
- Process the accurate transfer of weekly costing and ENCE transfers for all payrolls.
- Run transfer to GL.
- Maintain and update rate changes for employees and process retro payments if required.
- Enter over‑scale and special agreements.
- Set up garnishments and third‑party payments.
- Process terminations.
- Stay current on state and federal regulations to ensure compliance with payroll accounting laws and requirements.
- Process and set up credit union accounts and payments.
- Use in‑house software and download and transmit report details.
- Provide training to subordinates.
- Assist in payroll‑related month‑end closing activities.
- Produce payroll reports for state, federal, union, or corporate reporting purposes.
- Act as a resource and provide training as needed.
- Other duties as assigned to support the business unit.

- Associate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
- Minimum 6 years’ payroll experience, preferably with a union employer
- Financial, payroll, or tax training is a plus (formal classes or seminars)
