Senior Accountant, North America

Job Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing accounting operations, maintaining the ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, Danaher accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and delivering insightful financial analysis to drive business decisions. The role supports monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and reports to the Assistant Controller. This position is based in San Jose, CA and is on‑site.

• Prepare journal entries and reconcile monthly general ledger balances for assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Own U.S. balance sheet flux analysis and maintain key working capital data points. Analyze financial results and provide detailed variance explanations for balance sheet accounts to management.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and internal control enhancements.
• Lead cross‑functional initiatives and accounting projects to successful implementation.
• Participate in Kaizen events as a finance representative, contributing to process improvement and problem‑solving efforts; complete assigned action items within established timelines.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in Accounting with 3+ years of experience OR Doctoral degree in Accounting with 0+ years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial accounting standards with experience working in a public company environment.
• Proficiency with Oracle ERP systems, reporting tools, and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ideally with experience in a Big 4 or large regional accounting firm.
• Experience with financial systems implementations or process automation initiatives.
• Experience in the life sciences industry, particularly within a manufacturing environment.

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $130,000. This range may be modified in the future. The role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
