Overview
San Jose Behavioral Health is currently seeking a Manager - Accounting to assist the Accounting Department and our new 133-bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital, located in South San Jose.
Location:
On site.
Work Schedule:
Full time, 40 hours per week, Day shift.
Salary Range: $125,000 – $166,500 (depending on experience).

Plan, organize and supervise the facility’s financial support function(s) to ensure industry standards, company policy, and procedures are followed.
Essential Functions- Oversee the complete flow of department business functions, including proper payment recording, changes, write‑offs, collections, and financial reporting accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide staff management, including hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication to ensure efficient department operation.
- Develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures for accurate and timely financial statements.
- Resolve difficult issues and complaints from internal and external sources.
- Implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal statutes, hospital and accrediting agency regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of payer‑specific rules and regulations for billing and payment of facility and professional services.
- Verify the accuracy of business transactions recorded by others.
- Manage department financial operations.
- Analyze financial records or reports to assess operational state and improve financial management.
- Prepare financial documents, reports, or budgets as directed.
- Prepare month‑end journal entries, month‑end close, and general ledger account reconciliations within established time frames.
- Monitor cash flow and other resources.
- Prepare and submit quarterly and annual government reporting requirements to ensure accurate and timely filings.
- Assist in budget analysis and preparation.
- Assist the CFO with schedules, reports, audits, and projects per corporate and agency requests.
- Serve as backup for Payroll/AP Staff Accountant when needed.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Four or more years’ accounting experience preferred, healthcare setting a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience at a public accounting firm preferred.
- Strong accounting background, analytic skills, and knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Works well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ownership and pride in work product.
- Strong time‑management and organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic and professionalism.
