Position SummaryThe Director of Finance oversees Next Flex’s daily accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions. This role ensures the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of financial data; manages accounting and finance team members; develops and maintains financial policies and procedures; and supports strategic financial planning. Because Next Flex works closely with the Department of Defense (DoD), this role leads the financial management of cost proposals, federal contracts, awards, and cooperative agreements.
The position requires experience in project/product cost accounting and full compliance with GAAP/revenue recognition, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The Director of Finance provides timely insights and recommendations to executive leadership to guide decision‑making and long‑term organizational health.
Next Flex operates in a highly project and contract driven environment where strong financial control, judgment, and accuracy are essential. Our Finance function is not a traditional, single system accounting team, it is a distributed control environment spanning payroll, project costing, contracts, and multiple systems. We are seeking a Director of Finance who thrives in this kind of complexity and understands how finance truly operates in practice.
The Director of Finance is the senior finance and accounting leader responsible for financial accuracy, audit readiness, project level financial integrity, and accounting judgment across the organization. A successful candidate will combine deep technical accounting expertise with hands‑on leadership.
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, purchase order control, billing, cost allocation, and fixed assets.
- Own the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, month end close, journal entries, reconciliations, financial schedules and statements to ensure accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) including procurement standards, cost principles, internal controls, and subrecipient monitoring, and other non‑profit and federal contractor regulatory financial requirements.
- Ensure payroll results accurately feed project costing, financial statements, and reporting. Review and resolve payroll anomalies, system glitches, reconciliation discrepancies, and labor coding issues.
