Interim Assistant Controller

Our client, a services-focused organization, is seeking an Interim Assistant Controller to provide leadership and support across core accounting and financial reporting functions.

This role is hybrid with in-office expectations 4 days/week in San Jose, CA. This engagement has a duration of 3-6 months.

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial records
• Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules for management reporting purposes
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and established accounting policies and procedures
• Support accounting for service contracts, recurring revenue arrangements, and related financial activities
• Analyze operating costs and expenses to support accurate financial reporting and business decision‑making
• Assist with audit preparation, internal controls, and accounting process improvements
• Partner with finance and operational stakeholders to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a service-based industry environment
• Strong experience managing general ledger activities and month-end close processes
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and revenue recognition concepts
• Experience supporting audits, process improvements, and cross‑functional business partnerships; CPA preferred
