Title: Senior Technical Accounting Manager
Reports to: Corporate Controller
Compensation: $180k- $200K base + 25% bonus + approximately $50K annual RSUs
Location: San Jose, CA (Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite)
CompanyAn established global manufacturer with international operations is seeking a Senior Manager of Technical Accounting to join its corporate finance organization. The business operates in a complex, fast-paced environment with significant global operations, evolving accounting matters, and a collaborative leadership team. This role offers broad exposure to technical accounting, financial reporting, and cross-functional business initiatives while partnering closely with senior finance leadership.
Purposeof Your Position
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this individual will serve as a key technical accounting resource, providing guidance on complex accounting matters, supporting financial reporting initiatives, and helping ensure compliance with evolving accounting standards. The role combines technical research, business partnership, and team leadership while supporting strategic initiatives across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities- Research, evaluate, and document accounting conclusions for complex and non-routine business transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare technical accounting position papers and support external audit requests related to significant accounting matters.
- Assist with the interpretation and application of accounting guidance across areas such as revenue recognition, consolidations, business combinations, equity compensation, leases, impairments, and other specialized topics.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal, Tax, Treasury, Human Resources, and other functional teams to assess accounting implications of strategic business initiatives.
- Support quarterly and annual financial reporting processes, including disclosures, accounting policy documentation, and compliance activities.
- Monitor emerging accounting standards and assist with implementation efforts across the organization.
- Help maintain consistency in accounting policies and internal guidance across multiple business units and jurisdictions.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and day-to-day support to a small team while mentoring developing accounting professionals.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Approximately 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting experience with a large national or international firm.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with extensive experience applying U.S. GAAP.
- Experience researching complex accounting matters and preparing technical accounting documentation.
- Manufacturing or other complex product-based industry experience.
- Experience supporting external audits and financial reporting processes.
- ERP experience, including SAP or a comparable enterprise system.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple business functions.
- Experience with in technology, electronics, or other advanced manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with both U.S. GAAP and IFRS reporting frameworks.
- Exposure to SEC reporting and multinational reporting environments.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring accounting professionals.
