Union Payroll Specialist
A well-established organization in the construction and mechanical services industry is seeking an experienced Union Payroll Specialist to join their accounting team. What You'll Be Doing:
- Process accurate and timely weekly payroll for union and non-union employees
- Certified payroll processing
- Interpret and apply multiple union agreements, wage rates, and benefit requirements
- Ensure proper calculation of wages, deductions, overtime, and fringe benefits
- Prepare and submit union reports and benefit payments
- Handle certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements as applicable
- Reconcile payroll and related general ledger accounts
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Work closely with HR, accounting, and field operations to ensure payroll accuracy
- Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and year-end processes
- Stay current on changes to union agreements, wage rates, and applicable payroll regulations
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience
- Union payroll experience is highly required
- Construction, mechanical, or other skilled-trades industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience with certified payroll and/or prevailing wage requirements is a must
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, deductions, overtime, and fringe benefits
- Experience with payroll/ERP systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with employees and internal teams
