Company OverviewA global semiconductor manufacturing technology company is seeking a Senior General Accountant for its San Jose operation. This position supports general accounting, Accounts Payable, financial closing, reporting, and audit activities while coordinating with corporate headquarters in Japan.
Position SummaryThe Senior General Accountant will manage a broad range of corporate accounting responsibilities while overseeing and supporting the Accounts Payable team. This is a hands-on position requiring 5+ years of corporate accounting experience, strong AP expertise, and AP team supervisory or equivalent experience
. Professional Japanese and English proficiency is required for financial reporting and communication with Japan headquarters.
- Oversee and support the Accounts Payable team, including hands-on processing of high-volume vendor invoices.
- Manage daily general ledger activities and journal entries.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting data.
- Perform and analyze monthly and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
- Support internal managerial accounting activities.
- Prepare financial statements and support tax return filings.
- Assist the Accounting Team Lead with financial reports and analysis for Japan headquarters.
- Analyze financial data and prepare reports using Excel.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and other Operations department activities.
- Professional Japanese and English proficiency.
- 5+ years of corporate accounting experience.
- Hands-on Accounts Payable experience, including high-volume invoice processing.
- AP team supervisory or equivalent leadership experience.
- Experience with monthly and year-end closing.
- Experience reporting financial information to corporate headquarters.
- Experience working in a fast-paced organization with 200+ employees.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Semiconductor manufacturing or related industry experience.
- Tax-related certification.
- Experience with financial statement preparation, tax filings, and internal/external audits.
